Form 49A is the specified format to apply for Permanent Account Number or any changes to be done in existing PAN and the filled up Form 49A submit to be done at any office of the Income Tax Department. Section 139A of the IT Act, 1961 specified the format in Form 49A for PAN.
The Form 49A download comes along with Form 49A instructions that are easy to understand. A penalty not exceeding 20% of TDS can be deducted if the tax payer is unable to provide his PAN number. Hence, Form 49A for PAN is important for any person falling under the Tax brackets in India.
The Form 49A submit, once done, complete in all aspects, will be generated by the Agency viz, NSDL or UTISIL, also called the TIN facilitation Centre, and the PAN Card is sent to the address provided in Form 49A and the person is relieved of the burden to collect the PAN Card in person.
Also, the Form 49A download and Form 49A instructions are made available free of cost. Along with Form 49A, the applicant should enclose proof of identity and proof of residence and both should not be older than 6 months from the date of Form 49A submit.
Apart from physical Form 49A submit, the person can also utilize online Form 49A download option and submit the same online using his credit/ debit card. After uploading the filled up Form 49A, the original documents are to be sent to the department within a fortnight of making the online application. Failing to submit the original documents within specified time frame, will render the online Form 49A for PAN as invalid.
